Airbnb has developed a listing service that would allow American tenants to host homes in response to a "disproportionate" increase in single-room listings on its site as more individuals sought extra money amid a tumultuous global economy. With the cost of living problem in the country continuing to rise due to increases in the price of essentials like food, transportation, and housing, this shift comes at a time when many individuals are seeking new ways to supplement their income. Airbnb claims that their service will make it less of a hassle for customers who want to sublease their flat for part of the year to locate a suitable rental. The company's goal is to have more property owners accept short-term rentals by making it easier for them to advertise their houses as being suitable for Airbnb guests. Nathan Blecharzyck, the co-founder of Airbnb, noted that with the rising cost of living, renters may utilize the extra money gained by hosting on Airbnb to help pay their rent, save for a home, or cover other living expenses. According to the article, participating landlords will get a commission of up to 20% of Airbnb's sublet booking earnings. Equity Residential, Greystar, Sentral, and 10 more organizations have joined Airbnb's growing list of partners, bringing the total number of buildings they run to more than 175. Apartment hunters may use Airbnb's website to search for available units that accept short-term rentals. According to Airbnb's numbers, there are more than 175 host-friendly apartment complexes located in over 25 different U.S. locations. Landlords can offer a vacant room or sublet their entire unit to get some extra cash while they're abroad.
